Pelton turbines are hydraulic prime movers that convert the kinetic energy of water into mechanical energy. This is achieved by using a specialized water guide system to direct a high-speed free jet onto the runner buckets, causing the runner to rotate and perform work.
Francis turbines, also known as mixed-flow turbines, are suitable for medium to high head applications, typically ranging from 20m to 310m. They are widely used in modern hydropower plants due to their stable operation, compact structure, and relatively high average efficiency.
Kaplan turbines are reaction turbines in which water flows axially into the runner and exits along the blades in the same axial direction, converting hydraulic energy into mechanical energy. The runner consists of the runner body, blades, and draft tube cone.
